Sports unites all Malaysians and this is evident every time a Malaysian team participates in an international event. It is not the race of the player that mattered but it was the fact that it was a Malaysian who scored! In a multi-racial nation such as Malaysia, what better activity than sport to bring everyone together in a team or opposing teams.
At the same time giving our youths of today an avenue to harness their energy into something productive is one way to keep them motivated and off the streets.
There was a time when Malaysian Indian were icons in the sporting arena both in athletics and games such as football, hockey and badminton. Today, there are hardly any outstanding Indians in this field. Why is this so? Is it due to lack of talent or lack of motivation?
It is with the aim of developing talent and also to keep the young occupied and motivated that we have begun various youth and school-based activities to nurture young Malaysian not only Indians to look towards developing talent in the field of sports and to represent the nation in the years to come.
