Hindu places of worship of varying sizes are found all over the nation and many of them face numerous issues.
Some have adequate funds but others are in dire need of funds and we have had numerous requests for financial assistance to help complete stalled projects. Some of the issues relate to ownership of the land or the relocating of temples or shrines.
In some places it is the lack of facilities for devotees to conduct a wedding or a funeral and the lack of a proper cremation ground is a major issue.
Just like most other religions, the temple or place of worship has been the focal point of the Hindu community. However due to numerous factors, it is slowly losing its place and it is felt that this is one of the reasons why the youth of today are developing undesirable habits.
Donations to temples and religious activities proved the single largest category of donation for myNADI’s activities in 2010.
This not only reflects the emphasis and priority given to this area of life by the Malaysian-Indian community but also highlights an area of possible improvement in terms of governance structure and lack of fund-raising capabilities.
